Mission, values and drivers

All students were successful at university or a real alternative. They lived happy and purposeful lives.

At Dixons Pennine Academy, we are united by one mission: to ensure every student thrives at school, succeeds at university or a meaningful alternative, and develops the knowledge, character and self-determination to live a life of choice, purpose and contribution.

Everything we do is rooted in our core values of Work Hard, Be Responsible and Be Kind. These values shape our culture, guide our decisions and define how we learn, work and treat one another every day.

Work Hard

We work hard and stay curious so we can achieve our goals and make a positive difference in our community.

Be Responsible

We do the right thing, even when no one is watching, and take responsibility for our choices.

Be Kind

We show respect in how we speak and act, because we represent something bigger than ourselves.

Alongside our values, we focus on three key drivers that help our students develop intrinsic motivation and become confident, independent learners.

Mastery is the drive to continually improve at things that matter. We believe every student can achieve excellence through deliberate practice, expert teaching and sustained effort.

Autonomy is the drive to direct our own lives. We empower students to become increasingly independent, reflective and self-disciplined, equipping them to make informed choices and take ownership of their learning and future.

Purpose is the drive to contribute to something larger than ourselves. We help students understand that education is about more than personal success; it is about making a positive contribution to families, communities and society.

Our mission, values and drivers are woven through every aspect of academy life. They shape how we learn in lessons, how we conduct ourselves around the academy, how we wear our uniform with pride and how we support one another every day. By being explicit about why we do what we do, we help students develop the habits, character and mindset that will enable them to flourish long after they leave us.

Through high expectations, consistency and a relentless belief in every child, we prepare our students not only to succeed in education, but to lead lives of choice, purpose and contribution.
